Sandra
Content Specialist, RN, MSN
Sandra is a nurse educator and PN NCLEX reviewer. She began her early career in the United States Air Force as an intelligence mission controller; she left the military after obtaining a Bachelor of Science BS degree in Electronic Management from Southern Illinois University after ten years of service. Shortly after leaving the military, she began her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN degree from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. While a student at the BSN level, she proposed a pediatric research project with the Science Department at the University with several peers. Shortly before graduation, the research was chosen for publication in Pediatric Nursing as part of a continuing education series.
Sandra then continued her education and attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia, earning a Master of Science MSN degree in Nurse Anesthesia. During her anesthesia program, she had an opportunity to complete a specialty rotation in Pediatrics at Columbus Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. It was during this rotation that she realized her passion for pediatric nursing and after graduation, she worked at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia for several years. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Sandra was required to have a knowledge base for all disease processes and disorders and expertise in emergency and airway management in a variety of clinical settings.
Sandra has a highly diverse background that extends from conception to death on the lifespan continuum. She became passionate about teaching nursing students after several guest lectures requests at a local community college while practicing in Soldotna, Alaska. While acknowledging that clinical nursing was a gift, she quickly found out that educating nurses was a passion. Sandra has taught nursing from the Practical Nurse level to the BSN level. She is currently living in Norfolk, Virginia with her sons and works at a local University with their BSN program as Pediatric faculty and Pediatric Simulation Director. Ms. Davis is currently working on her Ph.D. in Nursing Education from Capella University, with a projected graduation date of late 2017.
