Elke

Content Specialist, MSN, CNM

Elke has been working in women’s health and perinatal nursing for over 20 years and practicing full scope midwifery since 2002. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and midwifery certification at the Frontier Nursing University, is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives, the American Association of Birth Centers, and the UpToDate Clinician Advisory Board. Her recent clinical experience includes being a member of the faculty practice at the Yale University School of Nursing and on the staff of the Women’s Birth and Wellness Center, one of the nation’s largest and longest running accredited free-standing birth centers. She is currently on the medical staff at Novant Health, where her interests include expanding access to midwifery and advanced practice nursing care in her home state of North Carolina. She believes the nursing values of patient advocacy, clear, accurate communication from providers and informed, active participation from patients are increasingly essential in the modern health care environment. This makes her passionate about teaching and creating educational materials for both patients and beginning clinicians. Outside of work, Elke is on the board of directors of the Cradle of Jazz Project, a non-profit organization creating access to education, cultural exchange, and health care for artisan children in the US and West Africa.
